Eternal Love

This Valentine’s Day, the ancients remind us that to love is to be human.

This week, in an announcement timed to coincide with February 14th, a team of Greek archaeologists released the results of an analysis conducted on a millennia-old grave in southern Greece. Originally uncovered last year, the remains of a man and a woman locked in an embrace were found in the grave and analyzed using radiocarbon dating. The results of the analysis confirm the date of the grave to around 3800 BCE, and indicate that its occupants were between 20 and 25 years old at the time of their deaths.

Valentine's DayFurther study should reveal more of this 5800 year old couple’s story, but for now, even across the millennia, one thing is clear: love is eternal.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
